FAQ'S

 

What are your cancellation terms?

​

$1 deposit to book - this is non refundable unless we have to close for any reason.

More than 14 days cancellation notice - deposit will be forfeited.

Less than 14 days notice (including non arrival) - full payment of period booked is due. However, if you are unable to travel due to a Covid lockdown, or because you have to isolate, we will reschedule your dates if you notify us at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival.

If we close due to Covid-19 government restrictions, or any other reason, we will refund any monies paid.  Please note that we cannot be held liable for any associated travel costs, if we do close for any reason.

Balance of booking will be deducted from credit card 14 days prior to stay dates. 

Please note that if the three cottages are booked together by a group a bond of $300 will be required ten days in advance of stay, which will be refunded if the cottages are left in a clean and tidy condition with no damages.

We want privacy and space. How close are the other cottages?

Our property is 9 acres on a rectangular block. The Farmhouse is about 50m to the north of our home with screening lattice and trees between. The Croft and The Byre cottages are 220m to the east and cannot be seen from the Farmhouse or our own house. The Croft and The Byre are 60m apart and are sited to ensure your privacy which is enhanced by the placement of gardens.  Our guests regularly comment about the high degree of privacy when compared to other places they've stayed.

Please bear in mind that we have a variety of farm animals on site and they can occasionally be noisy.

 

Can we bring our own food and wine?

Yes, all cottages are equipped for those wishing to self cater.

 

Do we need to bring linen?

No, bed linen is supplied including bath sheets, hand towels, bathmats and beach towels.  

 

Is my cottage serviced?

The cottages are not serviced.  If you are staying for more than 6 nights we will provide you with a change of bed linen and towels at your request.

Does my cottage have a hot tub?

Yes, all cottages have therapeutic spa pools / Jacuzzis which are constantly heated, always ready for use.

Do you have a swimming pool as well?

The in-ground swimming pool on the property is not open to the public.

How far are you from Port Macquarie?

Telegraph Retreat is the ideal base for a Port Macquarie holiday and is a 15-20 minute drive away.

How far off the Pacific Highway are you?

We're 4 minutes off the highway on a sealed country road.

 

How long does it take to drive from Sydney?

It's a 4hr drive direct from the start of the freeway north of Sydney to our door.

 

How far is the beach?

Port Macquarie has numerous beaches, some patrolled, located 20-25 minutes away. We can also direct you to some other beautiful beaches north of us.

 

Can we park our boat on the property?

Yes, there is undercover car parking at The Croft and The Byre Cottages with ample additional space for a boat, and a large outdoor parking area at the Farmhouse (not under cover).

 

Are there extra charges for extra people?

Yes, all the cottage tariffs are based on 2 people (4 people for The Farmhouse) staying. Additional people are charged a per night rate which varies depending on the length of stay. Extra adults are charged between $25 and $40 per night and extra children up to the age of 16 are charged between $15 and $25 per night. Infants under 2 are free and we can provide portacots and highchairs but please bring your own cot linen..

 

Can we bushwalk on your property?

Telegraph Retreat is an 8.5 acre (3.3ha) property which you are welcome to walk around. Telegraph Retreat is bounded by other rural residential properties of a similar size also with Federation themed homes.  There is a forest walk on our property too.

 

What is your environmental impact policy?

Green STAR Accreditation endorses tourism businesses which are responsible and committed to reducing the environmental impacts of their business operation in the areas of waste minimisation, water management and energy efficiency. In an endeavour to minimise our impact on our environment Telegraph Retreat have consistently applied initiatives to reduce our footprint on the natural environment. Telegraph Retreat is an accredited Green Star tourism operator.  All new furniture is sourced from sustainable schemes.

 

What chemicals do you use during cleaning?

Telegraph Retreat cottages are cleaned with environmentally safe products. We have also introduced new procedures to our cleaning routine in light of the Corona Virus outbreak.  All surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant. Prior to guests arriving all surfaces are sprayed with a disinfectant mist.

 

Do you have in house movies?

There are DVD movies in each cottage and we have other movies available to borrow free of charge.

 

Do I need to bring a hair dryer?

No, each cottage has a hair dryer

 

Do you have Austar, paid TV or Wifi?

There is free wifi in all of the cottages.  Television reception is generally good but can experience outages so we recommend you bring a streaming device to make use of the wifi.

 

Are there laundry facilities?

Yes there is a guest laundry with front loader washing machine, electric drier, tub, washing powder and each cottage also has a clothes airer.

 

Can we bring our pet?

Please speak to us if you wish to bring your pet and we will try to accommodate your request.  Please note that pets can not be accommodated without prior approval from us and that we do not allow pets in The Byre cottage.  Animals must be kept under control at all times, must not be left at the cottage unattended and should be kept off the furniture and out of the bathrooms. Excess cleaning charges may apply if waste is not collected or the furniture has pet hair on it.  If these conditions are not adhered to we reserve the right to ask you to seek kennel accommodation for your pet at your expense or to ask you to leave.

 

Do we have to clean the cottage before we leave?

As with all self contained accommodation, our cottages should be left in a clean and reasonable state.  The cost of reasonable housekeeping is incorporated into the tariffs however, where excessive cleaning is required the cost of additional staff wages and any damage will be charged to your account.
